Stage 0: Cancer cells are found only in the innermost lining of the lung. The tumor has not grown through this lining. Tumor Stage 0 is also called carcinoma in situ. The tumor is notinvasive cancer.
Stage I: The lung tumor is an invasive cancer. This tumor has grown through the innermost lining of the lungs and into the lung tissue more deeply. Cancer cells are not found in lymph nodes in the vicinity.
Stage II: The lung tumor may be of any size, but the tumor has not invaded organs in the vicinity. Cancer cells are found in lymph nodes nearby.
    • Stage III: The lung tumor has spread to nearby organs, or to the chest wall, diaphragm, large vessels or lymph nodes on the same side or on opposite sides of the tumor.
